The creation of chef/brewer Ian Huizenga, Hired Hand Brewing Co. uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible to craft a family of exceptional beers, beer cocktails and farm-to-table foods that are a true taste of Vermont.

So come join us for some of the best locally brewed beers, spirits and food Vermont has to offer in a light-filled tap room in historic downtown Vergennes, Vermont.

What the casual, no-reservations, light-filled, high top-tables only venue does offer is something quite different ... It all starts with a fine selection of beers brewed by Huizenga himself and topnotch crisp-crusted pizzas created by sous-chef Sevie Cartularo,

Milk/Sweet Stout. Vergennes, known as Vermont’s “Little City,” is situated among Addison County’s expansive Champlain Valley and is the heart of the state’s dairy country. It’s fitting that the Little City’s brand-new brewery, Hired Hand, is pouring a Nitro Milk Stout that is some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Creamy coffee and chocolate notes, rich yet medium bodied, we could put our IPA proclivities on hold for the whole autumn season because of this beer. Nurse yourself a pint and consider yourself hired.

Each Hired Hand draft was flush with local ingredients, from malt and grains to hops and cold-brewed coffee. To sweeten the deal, the brewery’s menu included a baked-cheese sandwich stacked with Huizenga’s housemade kimchi and an espresso-milk-stout shake spiked with vanilla bean ice cream from Lu Lu in Bristol.

It’s in these moments I think to myself, Why would I live elsewhere?

A Little Help From Our Friends

Vermont is a unique place. Where others might see competition, we in Vermont see kinship. And that couldn’t be more true of the generosity of Erin and Sanderson Wheeler of The Bobcat Brewery and Cafe who extended their brewery to Ian and Hired Hand Brewing Co. to brew. Hired Hand is eternally grateful for not only that, opening their taps to our beers. We are honored.

We are also grateful to our fellow local brewer Kevin Hanson of Hogback Mountain Brewing in Bristol, Vermont. His wisdom and beer we praise.
